This piece, originally commissioned by Edmund Song, is a reflection piece on Kapwani Kiwanga’s installation for the Moody center of a sisal hung in a style echoing the way the fiber is left to dry on East African plantations, and silica sand, an essential material in the fracking process. Deeply touched by the delicate texture made in the sisal, I hope to reflect the delicate side of bass’s sound from the artwork. This piece was premiered by Edmund Song in March, 2021 at Singapore. This video is performed by Samantha St. John in October, 2021 at Moody Center for the arts, Houston TX.
